Weld Traceability - Why we need it, and how we can do it better. T. Pereira, M. Cantatore (Esab Saldatura Spa)
The welding industry has become more complex as we advance throu- gh time, and traceability requirements are higher than ever. Today we have numerous international standards that enforce a certain level of traceability, and for the higher profile industries, such as energy or oil & gas, there are specific customer standards which enforce an even higher level of traceability. In the past, most of the traceability issues encountered by manufacturers or third party inspectors are discove- red during the pre-fabrication phase and will only lead to increased costs or delayed delivery times but, throughout history, disasters have occurred which could have been avoided with a higher degree of tra- ceability. In this session we will present some case studies from industry issues that led to the increasing of traceability requirements and how we at ESAB may serve our customers in managing these requirements with one of our new products.
