Moreover, the considerations were expanded over the conjugate cast pair to sup- port and infer the results. All in all, it was seen that the porosity formation is not related to a single cause but it is a combination of minor and major causes. While the effect of alloying elements and surface con- ditions were found to be negligible, the modality of the weld, already existing pores and weld atmosphere were attributed as minor causes. Under the available data, the powder feedstock was deduced as the major cause and the nature of the fusion based welding processes was found to be acting as catalyst for porosity formation.
